I’m 75% through the book on kindle. I think when I got 50% through I started to realise that this book was showing me my own thought processes, and how that “me” was / is only a phantom, producing a show using words, like I am now.

I don't know of anyone else that could have done this, Robert, but I guess that's why you "did" it :). Where you brought Claude to in your interactions came from real inquiry into the nature not just of AI but really of what exactly "we" humans/conscious beings are.

We know what seems to comprise "me" as an apparent individuality, but what comprises that is not what it IS because what it IS never becomes knowable as an object of inquiry - or as I think you might say it, is simply, utterly, unknowable and no one can say what it is.

I agree with both phrasings, but I prefer the former because to me it accounts better for the fact that even though WHAT I am is utterly un-knowable, it is also utterly and completely familiar. That means something that doesn't require an explanation, because there is nothing actually missing from it, no matter how far you follow the turtles down.

Kudos! 🙏🏻☀️
